Edward was the fifth son of Clement John and Elizabeth Glenister. 

Edward died when he was just ten days old and is buried in Hastings Cemetery with his sister Noel Levin Glenister who died in 1899 aged just over one year.
He bears the name of his Uncle, Edward Hastings, who was also a fifth son.

The inscription on the grave reads:-

In loving memory of Noel Levin the beloved daughter of Clement John and Elizabeth Glenister born August 3rd 1898 died September 23rd 1899
Also of Edward Hastings son of the above, born October 6th 1901; died October 16th 1901.  "save in the arms of Jesus"
