Comedian and entertainer Spike Milligan died
on February 27th 2002, he was buried in the churchyard at Winchelsea, East
Sussex in a grave that remained unmarked for around two years, there have been
various reasons given for this which I will not repeat here.
Finally in late May 2004 a Celtic cross was
erected bearing the now famous quote "I told you I was ill", in Gaelic
(Irish).
"Duirt me leat go raibh me breoite".
Here are some pictures of his final resting
place, click on the pictures for a larger version.
All pictures taken on May 25th 2004.
Spike was a member of Hastings
Borough Bonfire Society and also at one time Patron of the 1066 Jazz Club, one
of my last memories of spike was when he was asked to say "a few
words" at the 1066 Jazz Club, he took the microphone, said "A few
words", handed it back and sat down again!
