Louis Oliver was the forth son of William Montague and Kitty Glenister.

Louis Oliver was the fourth of the eight sons and two daughters of William Glenister, Chief Constable of Hastings, his grave is at Hastings Cemetery.

The inscription on his grave reads:-

"Peace perfect peace"
In ever loving memory of Naomi, the beloved wife of Louis Oliver Glenister who passed away August 29th 1905 aged 49 years.
Also of the above Louis Oliver Glenister who fell asleep April 3rd 1924 aged 68 years.
Also of William Fredrick Glenister second son of the above who entered into rest 27th December 1926; aged 46 years.

The 1881 Census records Louis as living at 10 St Mary's Terrace, Hastings. The Census also records Amy L Glenister, a butcher's daughter aged 5 staying with them, I have no idea who she was or any record of a butcher in the family at that time.

Louis Oliver was a Wine Merchant with a shop at 29 White Rock on Hastings seafront, it is possible that there were other shops in the town.

Kelly's Directory for 1899 has his address as 4 Linton Road, it also lists him as an Alderman, due to retire in 1900. He is also recorded as being 2nd officer at No 1 District for Hastings Borough Fire Brigade.

By 1905 Kelly's Directory gives his address as 30 Cornwallis Gardens, this was the year his wife died aged 49.
